I hope this email will inspire you to make a donation to ensure that CISLA continues to serve families and helps students do well in school, graduate high school, attend college and succeed in life!
One year ago, I joined Communities In Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA) and it has been the most rewarding experience of my career. At CISLA, I get to work with a talented team of youth development experts who dedicate their lives to uplifting students across thirteen public schools in Los Angeles.
When the pandemic forced campuses to close in March, CISLA adapted our programming to remain close allies of students who are navigating the difficulties of distance learning. We have also witnessed the adults in their lives fight to keep their homes together as income and resources diminish.
Thanks to generous donors like you, my team and I jumped into action to surround families with a community of support that includes social-emotional & mental-wellness case management; academic monitoring/tutoring; free technology including laptops, hot-spots & headphones; direct financial assistance for families; and regular care packages with hygiene & food!
We are now bracing ourselves for the negative impacts of the recent spike in COVID cases, continued school closures, and new round of job layoffs. Our families endure housing, academic and food insecurity and depend on us to help them face the challenges presented by these conditions.
Our families are also strong, resilient and resourceful! We are inspired by their strengths and our students' persistence to graduate, attend college and make their families proud while effecting meaningful change in their communities!
