CISLA Families Disaster Relief Fund
Supporting Our Families Affected by the Fires in Los Angeles
Our hearts go out to all those directly impacted by the fires and we are grateful that so many of our partners are on the frontlines providing immediate relief efforts.
With every day that goes by, we are learning from our students and their families the impact that the fires are also having on them. Our students’ parents and guardians are domestic workers, gardeners, day laborers, caregivers, and service industry workers in the affected areas. One of our parents from Jordan High School lost gardening clients in the Palisades. Alongside those who lost their homes, they are grieving over the loss of their livelihoods.
With so much uncertainty, the stability in our students’ home lives is in jeopardy. Their education, already disrupted by COVID-19, is once again at risk. That is why we are launching the CISLA Families Disaster Relief Fund to help their families and school staff pay for housing, bills, and other basic expenses.
Stability at home is crucial for our students to thrive in the classroom. CISLA is committed to ensuring that all our 13,000 students across 15 schools, who have already endured so much, receive the support they need for a bright future.
We are in this for the long haul – we will be there for our students and their families to help them achieve in the classroom and in life. We are incredibly grateful for your support to help our students and their families during such a difficult time for our communities.
Please take care,
Elmer and the CISLA team
