This February, we recognize Black History Month as a time to honor the legacy, resilience, and contributions of Black leaders, innovators, and communities. It is also a moment to reflect on our responsibility to turn awareness into action.

At Communities In Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA), we are committed to supporting Black students through education, advocacy, and direct case support—ensuring they have the resources, guidance, and opportunities needed to thrive.

Why This Is Important

Black students continue to face systemic barriers that impact access to education, stability, and opportunity. Awareness is the first step—but sustained support is what drives real change.Through our programs, we provide individualized case support that addresses academic, social, and personal challenges—meeting students where they are and helping them move forward with confidence. Our case support model connects students to academic advocacy and personalized guidance, access to critical resources and referrals, ongoing support from dedicated staff, and a network that’s committed to supporting student success.

Join Us in Making an Impact

Our goal this February is to raise $5,000 in support of students across Los Angeles. Every gift—no matter the size—helps strengthen the network of care surrounding our students.

$50 – May provide a backpack filled with essential learning materials.

$100 – May provide a care package with hygiene products and healthy snacks for one student.

$500 – May provide emergency food assistance, hygiene supplies, and grocery gift cards to families facing income loss due to illness.

$1,000 – May deliver critical crisis support, including temporary hotel stays, direct financial assistance, and transportation for families experiencing urgent hardship.

$2,500 – May provide case management for one student for the entire school year with CISLA’s youth development staff

Contributions to this campaign directly support initiatives that celebrate Black history, empower communities, and create lasting change. Together, we can ensure these stories, leaders, and legacies continue to be seen, heard, and supported year-round.

With gratitude,

The CISLA Team
